After nearly two decades in the skies, Jetstar Asia will officially cease operations on 31 July 2025. The Singapore-based low-cost carrier is closing due to rising operational costs and increasing regional competition. The move will impact over 500 Singapore-based employees and halt services across 16 regional routes, including popular destinations like Manila, Bangkok, Phuket, Okinawa, and Labuan Bajo. Some of these routes are expected to be picked up by other carriers such as Scoot. Jetstar Asia’s fleet will be redistributed within the Qantas Group, marking a significant shift in Asia-Pacific’s travel landscape.

Our recent familiarization trip through the Philippines, Malaysia, and Thailand gave both our team and trusted partners valuable first-hand insights into three of Southeast Asia’s most vibrant destinations. Experiencing these places up close by walking through the properties, tasting the food, and meeting the people allowed us to better understand how each detail contributes to an unforgettable journey. We believe there is no substitute for seeing things with your own eyes. That is why we encourage our partners and clients to join future trips like this. It is a chance to discover what sets each destination apart, build stronger relationships on the ground, and gain the confidence that comes with first-hand knowledge. These shared experiences do more than elevate how we work together. They ensure that every recommendation we make is grounded in quality, authenticity, and insights that only come from being there. We look forward to exploring more with you.
The recent strategy retreat in Siargao brought the Co-CEOs together for a focused and energizing reset. It was an opportunity to step back from daily operations and realign on the company’s long-term vision. With clear minds and shared purpose, they explored new ideas, challenged assumptions, and shaped a strategic direction for the year ahead. Held at Nay Palad Hideaway, the setting provided just the right balance of calm and inspiration. In a space designed for reflection and connection, the Co-CEOs were able to think creatively, collaborate deeply, and return with renewed clarity. This time away reaffirmed the importance of intentional leadership. It created space not just to plan, but to reconnect with the values that drive the business forward.
Still searching for your next adventure? We went straight to our Vio Travel Experts to get insider tips on the best destinations, stays, and hidden gems. From must-visit spots to off-the-beaten-path experiences, here’s what they had to say!
What’s one thing you love about being in the industry?
I love being able to connect people from different cultures and backgrounds. Travel brings people together, and it’s amazing to see how much we can learn from each other through shared experiences.
Where is your go-to getaway, and why?
Chiang Mai, in Northern Thailand, is my favourite weekend getaway. It’s peaceful, the cafes are great for relaxing, and the night markets are full of local finds like coffee beans, honey, and handmade soaps. Not many people know this, but the north of Thailand actually grows some really good coffee.
What makes a stay stand out, and can you share one you would recommend the most?
A stay stands out when it feels personal. One of my most memorable experiences was at Eastin Tan Hotel in Chiang Mai. I returned about a month after my first visit, and the staff remembered me. They even recalled how I liked my coffee. That small gesture made me feel genuinely cared for. It’s that kind of thoughtful service that leaves a lasting impression.
What’s the most unique or off-the-beaten-path experience you’ve ever had?
Visiting Wat Phu Tok in Northeastern Thailand during the pandemic was unforgettable. I was the only person there. Walking alone on the wooden walkways that wrap around the cliffs was both peaceful and a little scary but it was one of the most unique experiences I’ve had.
What destination do you think is the next big hit?
South Korea. It’s not yet a top destination for long haul travellers but it has so much going for it, including culture, scenery, food and great hospitality. It’s a place more people will start to discover.
