Still searching for your next adventure? We went straight to our Vio Travel Experts to get insider tips on the best destinations, stays, and hidden gems. From must-visit spots to off-the-beaten-path experiences, here’s what they had to say!
What’s one thing you love about being in the industry?
I get to be a dream-weaver and memory-maker! Every trip I plan is like directing a mini movie—complete with epic scenery, local flavour, and those little surprise moments that make people go, “Wait, how did you even find this place?!” Seeing someone come back glowing from a trip I helped create… that’s the best feeling ever. The travel world is always evolving—new trends, new places, new stories—and that constant buzz keeps me inspired and endlessly curious.
Where is your go-to getaway, and why?
The world is my playground, and Bali is my go-to escape. There’s something magical about hopping from island to island in Indonesia—but if I had to choose just one, Bali wins every time. It has everything: sun-kissed beaches, emerald rice terraces, peaceful jungle retreats, and golden-hour sunsets that make you forget your inbox even exists. I love waking up to birdsong in a sleek jungle villa, then spending the afternoon at a chic beachfront retreat. It’s like switching between two dream worlds, each with its own vibe, flavours, and rhythm—and the design-forward stays make every moment feel curated and creatively inspiring.
What makes a stay stand out, and can you share one you would recommend the most?
It’s all about the vibe and the thoughtful details — the handwritten welcome note, the staff who greet you by name, the locally sourced breakfast that tastes like sunshine. A standout stay isn’t just about comfort or luxury; it’s about authenticity, atmosphere, and the little moments that stay with you long after checkout. My top recommendation? Buahan – A Banyan Tree Escape near Ubud, Bali. This hidden jungle retreat redefines immersive travel with open-air villas that have no walls, inviting you to live in rhythm with nature. From sunrise yoga and forest-foraged meals to fireflies at night and mountain-view baths, every part of the experience feels serene, soulful, and deeply rooted in place.
What’s the most unique or off-the-beaten-path experience you’ve ever had?
One of the most soul-stirring experiences I’ve had was walking the Campuhan Ridge Walk at sunrise, then quietly arriving at Pura Gunung Lebah — a hidden temple tucked at the end of the trail. With early morning mist drifting through the trees, golden light spilling over the hills, and the sound of the river below, it felt like stepping into a sacred painting. The temple is peaceful and rarely crowded, its intricate carvings and spiritual stillness creating a space that invites reflection. It’s not just a place that takes your breath away — it gives you a moment to catch it.
What destination do you think is the next big hit?
I’m torn between two absolute gems: North Sulawesi and Alor & East Flores — and honestly, I think both are on the verge of becoming the next big thing (in the best way). North Sulawesi is a dream for divers and nature lovers, with Bunaken Marine Park’s vibrant coral walls, volcanic landscapes, and rich Minahasan culture. Then there’s Alor & East Flores — still wonderfully under-the-radar, with crystal-clear waters, untouched reefs, and traditions that feel deeply rooted and alive. Both offer that rare mix of authenticity, adventure, and serenity, and we’re currently crafting unforgettable Vio Travel experiences to help travellers explore them in comfort and style.
Can you share some tips on how to find the most unique experiences and stays?
Absolutely!
- Go beyond the obvious – Dig into local blogs, niche forums, and community tips.
- Ask locals – Drivers, hosts, and café owners often know the real hidden gems.
- Look for design-forward stays – Choose places that reflect local culture and craft.
- Be open to slower travel – Longer stays often lead to richer, more meaningful experiences.
- Use Vio Travel – We curate immersive, off-the-beaten-path stays so you don’t have to scroll endlessly. From jungle escapes in Bali to riverside retreats in Laos, we’ve got you covered.
